YouIntern was an online community that connected college students and internships. The site was active between 2007 and 2009.
With an early focus on the advertising and marketing industry, YouIntern's vision was to build strong, transparent connections between interns and employers. Students could review their internships, and employers could post open ones around specific talent criteria.
The online community built a business charging employers to post open internship positions. This simple structure generated positive revenue during most of 2008 and 2009, but became increasingly difficult to sustain as the global recession made it far easier for employers to find interns without having to pay for postings.
At its peak, the YouIntern community included over 10,000 active users from a select network of US and international universities. The site received positive press coverage in Advertising Age, The Washington Post, CBS News, Mediabistro, and dozens of college papers.
YouIntern was founded by Dan Chaparian, Anand Chopra-McGowan, and Nikhil Srivastava.
